HYDERABAD: As many as 80 Oxygen concentrators, 75 Oxygen cylinders and 20 high-flow Oxygen therapy equipment from Romania arrived in India early on Friday morning.
“These equipment have been gifted by the Government of Romania through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Thank you, Romania!” Rahul Shrivastava, ambassador of India to Romania, Moldovo and Albania said in a post on LinkedIn.
Daniela Sezonov Tane, Ambassador to India, Nepal and Bangladesh, Embassy of Romania said Romania expresses its solidarity and joins the European and international efforts to support the Republic of India, confronted with a ‘dramatic unprecedented circumstance of surge in infections of Sars CoV2 virus’.
Romania has offered humanitarian assistance to the Republic of India, following the request addressed to the European Union by the Indian government. European Union Member States have activated the European Mechanism for Civil Protection, Romania being one of the Member States, which were fully supportive of this approach, Ambassador Daniela Sezonov Tane said.
“The support offered by my country reflects the excellent bilateral relations we have with India, through the existing Extended Partnership, signed in 2013. The medical field is one of the main domains of cooperation, with special relevance in moments of crisis, as the one we are facing now,” Ambassador Daniela Sezonov Tane said.
She explained that the assistance was sent by Romania’s Department for Emergencies, through its Foundation for Emergency Response (SMURD Foundation), which mobilized in only 48 hours some much needed medical equipment including the 80 oxygen concentrators, 75 oxygen and 20 high flow oxygen therapy equipment. The Romanian Defense Ministry offered the aircraft for transporting it.
The ambassador said Romanian medical supplies are amongst the first to arrive in New Delhi and would be followed by additional medical devices and equipment shipped by the other European Union Member States, within UCPM - Union Civil Protection Mechanism, as part of the joint efforts of Team Europe.
“Romanian people’s hearts and prayers are with the Indian people in these very difficult moments,” ambassador Daniela Sezonov Tane said.
