Warzone best AK-47 loadout: Our AK-47 class setup recommendation and how to unlock the AK-47 explained

Excellent work, 47.

The AK-47 in Warzone had lost popularity over time due to its fairly odd recoil, but the balance update brought by Season 3 finally adjusted it, granting the weapon a triumphant return.

Positioning itself as a daunting choice that will never let you down in neither Warzone or Black Ops: Cold War, this assault rifle is devastating across short to long ranges. Thanks to its low time to kill that is no longer affected by an unfair recoil, and a particularly speedy nature compared to similar weapons, you can't go wrong with it.

This assault rifle is one of the best options in the roster to conquer Warzone's Verdansk, but it's important to consider its few flaws whilst looking for the right attachments. This page will cover how to unlock the AK-47 in Warzone, and both the best AK-47 loadout and class set up to capitalize on its potential.

How to unlock the AK-47 in Warzone

The requirement for this weapon is simple and can be obtained rather effortlessly. To unlock the AK-47 in Warzone, reach Player Level 7 to unlock the AK-47.

This can be done across Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and of course, Zombies. Due to the low level requirement, jumping for a few matches of Nuketown 24/7 or across Team Deathmatch playlists should be more than enough.

If you are a Warzone person, we recommend Plunder mode. This way you can just respawn and continue gaining experience throughout the match for longer. But if not, battle royale mode should get you up to speed after a few matches.

Best AK-47 loadout and attachments in Warzone

Below are our recommendations for an optimal AK-47 loadout, as well as the corresponding levels for each:

  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor (unlocks at level 46)
  • Barrel: 15.5" Ultralight (unlocks at level 4)
  • Stock: Spetsnaz PKM Stock (unlocks at level 45)
  • Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip (unlocks at level 41)
  • Ammunition: 45 Rnd Speed Mag (unlocks at level 25)

An ever favourite for SMGs such as the Bullfrog, the GRU Suppressor works wonders with the AK-47. It has a steep level requirement, but it comes with an increase in vertical recoil control, both bullet velocity and damage range, and the addition of sound suppression. Your aim down sight speed and stability will be hit slightly as a result, but on a minor degree in comparison.

Choosing the right barrel is a must for this assault rifle, and luckily you won't need anything extravagant. The 15.5" Ultralight will get the job done by adding more strafe speed. Whilst there are other options, the cons affect greatly what makes the AK-47 so appealing, so we recommend you to ignore them for this build.

Let's move onto the stock. We went for the Spetsnaz PKM Stock thanks to its increase in overall speed for fire movement, aim walking movement, and also aim down sight firing move speed. The only con is a decrease of hip fire accuracy, but it's not a significant difference.

For the underbarrel we opted for another member of the Spetsnaz group, specifically the Spetsnaz Grip. The cons balance out some of the pros of the stock, but grants recoil control in both horizontal and vertical directions.

In terms of ammunition, the 45 Rnd Speed Mag makes for the perfect pick. We would have recommended the 45 Rnd if it weren't for the fact that it decreases the weapon's reload duration, which is already considerable. This attachment increases that aspect, as well as providing a bigger mag, with a slight cost to aim down sight time.

Best AK-47 class setup, perks and equipment in Warzone

Here's our choices for the best items - such as equipment and Perks - to make the best AK-47 class setup in Warzone:

The time to kill of the AK-47 is deadly short, but the nature of assault rifles means that most of the time you will end up exposed to enemy fire. Quick Fix makes for the perfect choice to support this, as it starts health regeneration immediately after taking down an enemy. If level 41 seems a bit steep, E.O.D. is great to mitigate explosives (as long as they're non-killstreak related) as well as fire.

As per usual, you're gonna want to opt for Overkill in your second perk slot. Either a sniper rifle or a shotgun would compliment the weapon well enough, but we opted for the PPSh 41 thanks to its quick fire rate and immense ammo mag.

If you follow our suggestion, we recommend choosing Amped as your third perk. This will ensure you're switching weapons rapidly, making the most out of the range effectiveness of your loadout. If somebody dares to sneak up on you, switching to the PPSh 41 to make use of its hip fire makes for a great defensive tactic.

Tactical and lethal equipment may vary greatly here depending on your playstyle, but we recommend carrying a Stun Grenade to give you a breather during intense fights. As for lethal, we've found the Proximity Mine to be a great companion for this weapon in Warzone. It might not guarantee an instantaneous enemy kill, but it serves as both an offensive tool and an alert of incoming danger. We recommend placing them just at the side of entrances and close to stairs for best effectiveness.
