Lucknow, Apr 30 (UNI) A woman was allegedly gang-raped, killed and acid was thrown over her face to conceal her identity before throwing the body in a field in Meerut, police sources said on Friday.
The case was reported from Bhawanpur area of Meerut. The local residents found an unidentified body lying in the cane field on Ladpura road in Medpur village of Bhawanpur on Friday morning.
The police sources said the circumstantial evidence pointed that the victim was raped and later brutally killed somewhere else before her body was thrown at the spot. Her face was also burnt to conceal identity.
The identity of the victim has been established as a local resident. Her husband claimed that the victim was mentally retarded and was missing since three days.
The body has been sent for postmortem and efforts have been made to trace out the accused, sources added.
Another case of gang rape of a minor was reported from Sadabad locality of Hathras. Both the accused said to be working in the Army and came to their native village on leave, police sources said.
According to a police report, the victim had gone to her neighbor’s house on Wednesday night and when she was returning home, two local residents identified as Mukesh and Saurabh caught hold of her. They pushed her in a secluded place where both the accused raped her before setting her free.
They also threatened her with her life if she told anyone about the incident to anyone.
The victim, however, reached home and revealed her trauma to her family members who subsequently informed the local police and lodged a gang rape case.
The girl was also shifted to hospital for medical examination.
The cops of the Sadabad police station claimed that they conducted raids after finding the allegations true and arrested Mukesh from his house.
On interrogation he revealed to be serving in the Army and had come on leave. The other accused Saurabh, who is absconding from the house was also recently recruited in the Army.
