Microsoft buys German Linux specialist Kinvolk

Microsoft has announced the acquisition of Berlin-based Linux software specialist Kinvolk GmbH for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2015, Kinvolk specialises in open source cloud-native distributed computing, including Kubernetes, eBPF, community building and container-optimised Linux. The company created and distributes Flatcar Container Linux, a popular alternative to CoreOS Container Linux, as well as the Lokomotive and Inspektor Gadget projects.
