Ghaziabad: Authorities in Ghaziabad have started random checking of the stocks of Remdevisir at private hospitals of the district. The move comes in the wake of complaints from relatives of Covid patients that some hospitals are harassing them for the life-saving injection despite having the same in their pharmacies.
A team of officials from the police and the health departments, led by SP (rural) Irah Raza, has so far checked the stocks of Remdevisir at five private hospitals — Nagar Hospital, Ganesh Hospital, Narendra Mohan Hospital, Le Crest Hospital and Atlanta Hospital — in Ghaziabad.
SP (rural) Iraj Raza said, “Some of these hospitals have failed to keep a record of the life-saving drug due to their hectic schedule. However, some irregularities have come to fore at Nagar hospital in Lohia Nagar. The hospital acquired 250 vials of the Remdevisir injection, but they could not show us any sales record till April 25, the day when it turned into a Covid facility.”
A police officer said that initial investigation has revealed that the hospital used to sell Remdevisir jabs to the relatives of the Covid-19 patients admitted there at a price higher than the market rate. “I will make a report on it and send the same to the district magistrate’s office and the chief medical officer for further action. Police may also lodge an FIR against the hospital,” Raza said.
