Telangana reports 7,994 fresh COVID-19 cases, 58 fatalities until Wednesday night

Hyderabad, Apr 29 (UNI) Telangana's COVID-19 cumulative tally climbed to 4,27,960 with 7,994 new Coronavirus infections reported in the state until 2000 hours on Wednesday.

COVID-19 deaths surged to 2,208 with 58 patients succumbing to the deadly virus in the past 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.51 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.1 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Thursday.

A total of 4,009 people have recuperated from the Coronavirus statewide in a span of 24 hours to push the overall recoveries thus far to 3,49,692 constituting a recovery rate of 81.71 per cent while the National recovery rate was 82.1 per cent.

Currently, the number of active cases in the state stands at 76,060, the bulletin said.

Between Wednesday and Thursday, 80,181 swab samples were tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 4,725 swab samples are awaited.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 1.28 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far.

The worst-affected Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation remained the chief contributor of the infection by reporting 1,630 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district 615, Rangareddy district 558, Nalgonda district 424, Sangareddy district 337, Nizamabad district 301, Siddipet district 269, Suryapet district 264, Mahaboobnagar district 263, Jagityal district 238, Khammam district 213, Vikarabad district 207, Nagarkurnool district 206, Mancherial district 201, Karimnagar district 197, Wanaparthy and Kamareddy districts 174 each, Yadadri Bhonigir district 164, Warangal Rural district 163, Warangal Urban district 162, Nirmal district 152, Rajanna Sircilla district 144, Adilabad district 133, Bhadradri Kothagudem district 131, Medak district 117 and Peddapalli district 112.

The remaining fresh Coronavirus cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added.
