Noida: A plan to turn the
shooting range within the integrated sports complex in Sector 21A into a
Covid care facility, which had been put on the backburner by the Noida Authority, is back in the reckoning. The facility is now expected to become functional in the next few days with at least 50 beds.
The Authority will also set up an oxygen plant within the facility on a war footing. Officials said the plan has been revived after the Adani Group assured the Authority of providing 300 jumbo cylinders.
Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari said that from May 8, the facility will start accepting patients. “Before dedicating any facility, we wanted to make sure that we will have proper oxygen supply at the place. We have tied up with some corporates and a body of doctors who will provide us with the required resources to set it up.”
The proposed oxygen plant at the makeshift Covid facility will be established through pressure swing adsorption technology, officials said, adding that the plant is expected to be ready within a few weeks.
The
hospital will be equipped to give tertiary care and will have some ventilator beds as well. For providing health staffers and doctors, the Authority will get support from Doctors For You. Members of the organisation who reside in NCR have volunteered to look after the patients.
Noida’s additional CEO Neha Sharma said that the Adani Group committed to provide 100 oxygen cylinders to the district administration on Thursday morning and the remaining 200 cylinders within this week. “Once the oxygen plant is functional, more cylinders could be diverted to other hospitals in the district.”
