IPL 2021 Purple Cap: DC’s Avesh Khan stretches lead on 2nd spot; RR’s Chris Morris joins MI’s Rahul Chahar in top 3 list- Avesh Khan of Delhi Capitals has stretched his lead at 2nd spot in Purple Cap. He dismissed Shubman Gill for 43 on Thursday. In total, he has scalped 13 wickets in the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals allrounder Chris Morris has jumped to 3rd spot in the IPL 2021 points table. He took the key wicket of Rohit Sharma and later dismissed SuryaKumar Yadav to take as many as 11 wickets.

Earlier today, Mumbai Indians spinner Rahul Chahar added another wicket (while playing against Rajasthan Royals) to his tally to reach the top 3 in the Purple Cap leaderboard. He dismissed the Jos Buttler and Yashashivi Jaiswal wickets to complete reach 11 wickets tally in IPL 2021.

Rahul Chahar slipped to third place in the list with 8 wickets in 4 matches for Mumbai Indians. The other MI bowler in the Top 5 with 6 wickets from four matches.

Rules for IPL Purple Cap

  1. The award is given to the leading wicket-taker of the IPL season.
  2. The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season would wear the Purple Cap while in the field.
  3. In case of a tie, the Purple Cap is given to the bowler with a superior economy rate.

Delhi Capitals’  Kagiso Rabada won the Purple Cap after finishing at the top of the table with a total of 30 wickets at the end of IPL 2020.
