Punjab: Ludhiana customs seizes goods worth Rs 1.05 crore; registers three cases

LUDHIANA: Customs commissionerate Ludhiana in Punjab has booked three cases of mis-declaration, undervaluation and smuggling in which goods valued at Rs 1.05 crore have been seized by it.
Interestingly, in one of the cases, empty gas cylinders were imported by misdeclaring them as iron steel heavy melting scrap.

All the three cases were booked by the officials of Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch (SIIB) wing of customs department.

Arvinder Singh Ranga, commissioner of customs, Ludhiana said, “Three cases of mis-declaration, undervaluation, smuggling have been booked by the SIIB branch of the commissionerate during last one week, wherein goods valued at Rs 1.05 crores were seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. The duty involved in all these cases is around 25 lakh."
