Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi said he's not panicking despite their goalless draw against Golden Arrows at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday.
While Sundowns were held for the second time this season by Mandla Ncikazi's side, AmaZulu put Cape Town City to the sword with a 5-1 win that cut Sundowns' lead to just one point even though they have two games in hand.
Mngqithi said his former team is a difficult side to break down and as Sundowns, they just need to regain their missing sharpness.
"At this stage, for me, there's no panic because I believe if we had lost this game instead of the Chiefs game, we would have lost to a very good team," Mngqithi said.
"I believe these guys play very good football with a lot of intensity. They make you work very hard and that concerned us.
"We didn't have the sharpness that is expected from us and we wish it will come back at the right time."
The two points that Sundowns missed in the game were a source of irritation for Mngqithi, but not losing to the most improved team in the league was a positive Mngqithi took with him.
"For us, its always two points dropped. Even though we emphasised how good Arrows were, we've got more quality and we should be able to wrap up games earlier," Mngqithi said.
"We may not have won this game, but it's OK. We could have easily lost this game and things could have been totally different.
"We kept a clean sheet against a free-scoring team, and we didn't lose the game. For me, that's a massive achievement."
Mngqithi also said Sundowns' recent goal-scoring problems will be a thing of the past. After drubbing Orlando Pirates 4-1 in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals, Sundowns haven't scored in three of their last four games in all competitions.
Mngqithi said they'll find their touch as they create too many opportunities for them not to be rewarded at some point.
"Against TTM in the Nedbank Cup, we had 10 shots on target and 16 shots at goal but we still didn't score. In the AmaZulu game, we didn't have a very good first half, but had good moments in the second half," Mngqithi said.
"In this game, it was difficult to create clear goalscoring opportunities and their transition from attack to defence was very quick. In this game, we didn't create enough chances and in football, you go through the rough patches of creating chances, but not scoring.
"The guys have been trying but this will pass. We're a team that creates goal-scoring opportunities."
Sundowns are next in league action on Sunday when they travel to Orlando Pirates for a blockbuster clash.
