Allahabad HC judge succumbs to Covid-19

Allahabad High Court, Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava
PRAYAGRAJ: A sitting judge of Allahabad High Court, Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava, died due to Covid-19 on Wednesday. He was 59 and is survived by wife and two sons.
Justice Srivastava graduated in law in the year 1986 and did his postgraduation in law in the year 1988.
He was appointed to Higher Judicial Service (HJS) in 2005 and promoted as District and Sessions Judge in 2016.
Later on he was posted as Principal Secretary (Law) from September 20, 2016 to November 21, 2018.
Justice Srivastava was appointed as Additional Judge of Allahabad High Court on November 22, 2018. Subsequently, he took oath as permanent judge of Allahabad High Court on November 20, 2020.
A few days ago, when Justice Srivastava was holding court, he had some medical problem and due to which he was shifted to PGI, Lucknow, where he succumbed to death due to Covid infection on Wednesday.
Registrar (Protocol) of Allahabad High Court, Ashish Kumar Srivastava informed that High Court at Allahabad and Lucknow Bench will remained closed for one day on April 29, 2021 (Thursday) to mourn the untimely demise of Justice Srivastava as mark of respect to the departed soul.
