The “missing” Yakshagana artist Uday Hegde Kadabala has been traced in Bengaluru, according to Kota police in Udupi district.

“He has been traced to a relative’s house in Bengaluru. The artist said that he cannot return home now due to COVID-19. There is no cause for any worry,” a police official at Kota Police Station told The Hindu.

Earlier, his wife, Ashwini Kondadakuli who is also a Yakshagana artist and a teacher, had filed a complaint with the police that her 37-year-old husband was incommunicado since April 21 after he left the home in his car. His mobile phone was also not reachable.

The artist is associated with Perdoor Yakshagana Mela. Mr. Kadabala is a well-known artist of the Badagu Thittu school of Yakshagana.

He is the son-in-law of doyen of Yakshagana Kondadakuli Ramachandra Hegde.
