Hyderabad: The next three to four weeks were crucial in the fight against Covid-19 and the second wave of the telangana pandemic would be under control by the end of May if people continue to take precautions, senior health officials said Wednesday.

‘There are clear signs of Covid cases falling and reaching a plateau, not only in Telangana but also in states like Maharashtra. The next three to four weeks are crucial and we call on the public to continue with precautionary measures. We hope that the second wave will be under control by the end of May, ‘said dr. Srinivasa Rao, director of public health (DPH), said on Wednesday during an interaction with press persons here.

The health official appreciates the way the residents of Telangana responded to the call that the state government followed Covid appropriate behavior.

‘The night watch started to show positive results. People in the state closely follow the use of masks, physical distance and hand hygiene. Our observations indicate that more than 90 percent of the individuals in the state now wear masks. Families postpone important functions, marriages, and even religious celebrations during the pandemic. As a result, the Covid cases gradually started to come down, ”said Dr.Rao.

The DPH urged the public to avoid rushing to the government unnecessarily Covid test centers if it has no symptoms or is generally healthy.

“There is a clear panic among the general public. As a result, asymptomatic individuals chase after Covid test centers for tests. Some even get tested two or three times a week. As a result, people with symptoms cannot access testing. As a result of the panic, test centers are turning into breeding grounds for Covid infections, ”he said.

The DPH and Director of Medical Education (DME), Dr K Ramesh Reddy, pointed out that despite the strengthening of infrastructure, oxygen supply and the provision of 24 × 7 health care services during the pandemic, it should prevent the individuals in the community from becoming infected To touch.

‘The public must realize that it is also their responsibility to act properly. They must act responsibly and take as much precaution as possible. The pandemic can only be controlled if individuals continue to follow Covid precautions, ”Dr.Reddy added.
