Fresh surge in corona cases with 73 deaths, Kolkata topped the list of casualty

Kolkata, Apr 28 (UNI) The election frenzy in West Bengal was against witnessing the surge
of fresh corona cases and upward graph in the casualty in this poll bound state with 77
deaths and some 17207 new cases across the state in the past 24 hours.
Of the 77 deaths reported on Wednesday, Kolkata topped the list with 22 casualties,
followed by North 24 Parganas 16.
With the rise of pandemic patients, particularly in urban and city areas, the scarcity of
medical facility of was also felt.
"Getting admission into a government hospital or any private hospital is almost impossible
unless some connection is there," said a family member of a patient.
The death rate due to pandemic came to near one digit to 1 and hovering between 1-5,
which now was going upper graph for past few days, according to a state government health
bulletin.
In the past 24 hours the graph went upto 17207 new covid cases and death was reported
to 77 and total death so far 11,159 since March 2020
Kolkata has registered a record one-day spike of 3821 coronavirus cases, while North 24
Parganas district reported 3,778 cases.
However, some 11933 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours, taking
the total number of discharged people to 6,76,581.
Total discharged rate as on Monday is 85.26 percent
