100,000 portable oxygen concentrators will be procured from PM-CARES, announces PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces the procurement of 1 lakh oxygen concentrators as well as 500 PSA oxygen plants in order to combat the shortage of oxygen supply in the country.

PM Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday in order to take up the discussion regarding how to accelerate the supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO).

In the meeting, Prime Minister Modi has accredited the procurement of 1 lakh portable oxygen concentrators from the PM cares fund.

In addition to this, 500 more PSA oxygen plants from the PM cares fund itself has been sanctioned. These 500 PSA plants will be established with the transfer of the indigenous technology developed by DRDO and CSIR to the domestic manufacturers.

Establishing PSA plants and procurement of portable oxygen concentrators will greatly augment the supply of oxygen near the demand clusters, thereby addressing the current logistical challenges in transporting oxygen from plants to hospitals.

Although, India has been struggling with the shortage of oxygen supply. Several states have been confronting a similar issue. Even the situation in the national capital has gone ponderable.

Though, CM Kejriwal, in a press conference announced that the Delhi government is going to set up 21 oxygen plants in order to tackle the oxygen shortage in Delhi.
