Gadchiroli, April 28(UNI) At least two Naxals were killed on Wednesday in an encounter with the police in a forest in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, police said.
According to Ankit Goyal, Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli, the exchange of fire took place at around 0630 hrs when the elite C-60 commandos of Gadchiroli Police were conducting an anti-Naxal operation in the Jambia gatta forest in Gadchiroli district.
The identity of the slain ultras could not ascertained immediately, he said.
The police has seized incriminating materials from the spot and a search operation is under way in the forest area.
