Odisha: Man held for raping college girl, posting photos online

BERHAMPUR: The Aska police in Ganjam district on Tuesday arrested a 33-year-old teacher for repeated rape of a college student for some years and leaking her her nude photos online after she refused to marry him. The accused was giving private tuitions to the girl since she was in Class IX.
The accused, Pradip Sahu, allegedly took some of her gold ornaments and cash and threatened to post her nude photos online if she did not marry him. And when the girl refused, he allegedly sent some of her objectionable photos to her relatives.
The police said the accused had raped the girl several times since she was a minor. The girl, fearing backlash from her family and society, did not disclose the matter to anyone. “She, however, lodged the FIR against the accused when he posted her photos online,” said IIC of Aska police, P K Sahoo. He said the medical examination of both the girl and the accused have been conducted and statement of the girl recorded before the magistrate before Sahu was forwarded to court.
