Uttar Pradesh: Dreaded gangster gunned down by police in Mau district

VARANASI: A dreaded looter Lalu Yadav alias Vinod Yadav was gunned down in Bhavrepur area in Mau district around 3.30am on Wednesday.
SP Mau Sushil Ghule said that Yadav was involved in 82 cases mainly of looting jewellers and cash van.
Lalu Yadav was carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head announced by the police. After ensuring victory of his wife unopposed in block development council elections, he was preparing to make her the block chief.
Police said that upon knowing Yadav's presence at his place in Dodapur village, the cops of special operation group, Sarai Lakhansi, Chiraiyyakot and Mohammadabad police stations cordoned the area.
Police intercepted Yadav at his house near Bhabrepur but he opened fire and tried to escape.
Two inspectors, a sub-inspector and a constable would have suffered gun shot injuries but the bulletproof jackets saved them. Yadav suffered gun shot injuries and was taken to district hospital. Ghule said that doctors declared him brought dead.
