Ahmedabad: Only colour-coded vehicles to get green light in curfew

AHMEDABAD: Vehicles that move in the night during curfew will have to sport color-coded stickers so that cops can identify it from a distance.
The Ahmedabad Police Commissionerate has said that red stickers will be given to vehicles used by doctors, para-medical staff, vehicles carrying oxygen, medicines, and injections for Covid treatment. Green stickers will be used for vehicles carrying essential items like vegetables and milk.
The police will also give yellow stickers to vehicles belonging to AMC, Torrent Power and other services which all in the essential category. Cops said that institutes will have to acquire the stickers for their staff by submitting an application on their letter heads.
Meanwhile, after the state government extended curfew and declared SOP for several services, DGP Ashish Bhatia held a detailed video conferencing and directed cops to take strict action against violators. The DGP also directed the Intelligence Bureau to keep an eye on movement and ensure that the SOP was followed. He said that the IB will report directly to the DGP office if any violation was noticed in any district.
He also called upon the police to encourage people so that they follow the guidelines themselves, and ensure there is no violation. However, in cases where people refuse to cooperate with police, strict action has to be taken against violators, he said.
Meanwhile, on Monday, 2,467 cases were filed against those violating the guidelines and were caught moving in the night even during the curfew timings. A total of 12,677 people were fined by the police for not wearing masks.
