Hathras, Apr 28(UNI) Five people lost their lives after consuming illicit liquor in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said here on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Nagla Sindhi village under Hathras gate police station. Several people were also admitted to Aligarh hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
On the night of April 26, the people of the village consumed liquor after offering it to a deity leading to the tragedy.
A liquor supplier Ramhari had supplied the illicit liquor.
All the five people, who died on Tuesday, were from the same village. Police has ordered a post-mortem of the bodies.
District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan has rushed to the affected village and has ordered a probe.
