Wingstop earnings beat expectations

Wingstop Inc. WING, +2.07% shares rose 1.3% in Wednesday premarket trading after the chicken chain reported earnings and sales that beat expectations. Net income totaled $13.2 million, or 44 cents per share, up from $8.2 million, or 27 cents per share, last year. Revenue of $70.7 million was up from $55.4 million last year. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of 31 cents per share and revenue of $69.1 million. Digital sales were up 63.6% and domestic same-store sales were up 20.7%. The FactSet consensus was for a 13.4% increase. Wingstop stock is up 11.7% for the year to date, just ahead of the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.02%, which is up 11.5% for the period.
