Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawalla to get Y category security cover

Pune-based Serum Institute of India chief Adar Poonawalla will be provided Y category security across the country. The Union Home Ministry issued orders regarding this today after conducting a detailed threat assessment today. “Y Category” security involves the presence of 11 security personnel. As a philanthropic gesture, Mr Poonawalla said that on behalf of the Serum Institute of India, he will reduce the price of the dose from Rs 400 to Rs 300 effective immediately. This will save thousands of crores of state funds. “This will enable more vaccinations and save countless lives”, Mr Poonawalla tweeted today.
