878 polling stations set up for GWMC polling stations: election observer

Warangal: A total of 878 polling stations have been set up for the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) polls, election chief Christina Z Chongthu said on Wednesday.

She organized on Wednesday on a training program for the micro-observers for the election and said that the role of micro-observers is essential to make the election run smoothly. Of the 878 polling stations, 167 were classified as critical, 159 as hypersensitive and 203 as sensitive, she said.

Arrangements were to broadcast the voting process at 46 polling stations via the internet while the voting process would be monitored by the micro-observers in the remaining polling stations in 66 municipal sections under the GWMC.

The micro-observers should follow the State Election Guidelines (SEC) guidelines when conducting the ballot boxes, and they should report to the SEC immediately if they find any inconsistencies in the ballot box, Chongthu said.

Later in the day, she inspected the polling station at the Delhi Public School in Karunapuram and ordered District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanmanthu and Municipal Commissioner Pamela S to make strict arrangements for the counting of votes.

The officials informed the general observer that telecameras had been installed to use counting halls and that separate access and exit points had been set up for voting agents and counting staff.

Meanwhile, the GWMC election team and the police seized essential products worth Rs 000, intended for distribution among the voters at Lashkar Bazaar Idgah. The material was seized following a tip-off, Supervisor Sushma informed the pilot.
