The Suzuki Hayabusa is a legend amongst premium big bikes across the globe. After all, it started out with a bang in 1999 as it was the world’s fastest production bike with a top speed of 312 kmph. In India it rose to fame after being used by John Abraham in the movie ‘Dhoom’ and got christened as the ‘Dhoom Bike’. Having said that, the Hayabusa was always a great bike to ride and now back in a bold new avatar, it carries its appeal forward.

The Hayabusa remains a very good looking bike and while Suzuki has retained its flowing styling, the new 2021 edition looks sharper and has a more purposeful stance. The riding position is quite aggressive, however the rider can pull off long hours on this machine thanks to the ergonomic positioning of the controls.

Running Showa units for the suspension with tweaked bits, the new Hayabusa has also received a big upgrade in the braking department with the new Brembo Stylema calipers up front. Undoubtedly this has helped with the stopping power needed for what Suzuki has christened as the ‘fastest Busa ever’.

Powering the new Hayabusa is a 1340cc four-cylinder engine that is basically the same unit off its predecessor. However, to keep with the times, it has been tweaked for better overall performance. Key changes include lighter pistons, new connecting rods and fuel injectors. With these changes, the Hayabusa now makes 190hp of power which is 7 hp less than its predecessor. Despite the drop in power, Suzuki has managed to lower the bike’s overall weight and has revised the torque delivery to be a lot stronger which has resulted in the bike being faster than ever before.

Premium bikes have progressed in terms of on-board electronics and to ensure that the new Hayabusa competes at this level, Suzuki has updated this bike’s electronic package rather heavily. It comes with a six-axis IMU, 10 levels of traction control, 10 levels of anti-wheelie control, three levels of engine brake control, launch control, cruise control, cornering ABS, hill hold control and to make it easy to ride, you can choose from three power modes too!
Priced at INR 16.4 lakh in India, bikers definitely have a reason to rejoice in regards to the new Hayabusa. Bookings are open and deliveries start in May!
