Kia has announced changes in its brand strategy in India. Apart from introducing the new logo officially in the Indian market, Kia has announced the launch timeline of the updated Kia Sonet and the Kia Seltos. The updated Kia Seltos and Sonet will come with a list of new features.

Kia has not revealed anything about the upcoming vehicles. However, both the vehicles will come with new variants and offer new features in the market. The price announcement of the 2021 Kia Sonet and the Seltos is expected to happen on the first of May, which is next week.

The updated Kia Seltos will offer a new logo and changes in the variant line-up. Kia earlier discontinued the HTX Plus AT 1.5 diesel. Replacing that, Kia has introduced two new variants – Seltos HTK+ in petrol and GTX(O) 1.4 MT. The new GTX(O) MT is the most expensive variant of the line-up now and is the top-end variant of the new 2021 Seltos.

The Kia Sonet will also get the updated logo and updated HTX variants that will offer a long list of new features. Kia announced the discontinuation of the HTK+ 1.0 DCT and diesel AT earlier this month. The HTX+ will now get multiple new features including traction control and dual-tone alloys as standard. The HTX DCT petrol variant also gets Hill Climb Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and multiple driving modes that will change the accelerator input among other things in the car.

The HTX DCT also gets paddle shifters. The infotainment system gets updated with the new voice commands. The new AI now responds to “Hello Kia” commands from the occupants and takes voice commands too.

No major changes in the upcoming Sonet and Seltos

The new Kia Sonet HTX DCT petrol will be positioned between the existing variants – HTK Plus and GTX Plus. The diesel automatic option, which was only available with the HTK+ and GTX+ will now be available with the HTX variant. This will offer more choice to the buyers.

Everything else in the model remains the same. There are no changes to the other variants and trims. Even the engine options remain the same. The Sonet gets three engine options. There is a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 82 Bhp and a peak torque of 115 Nm. There is also a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 118 Bhp and a peak torque of 172 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is available in two states of tunes. The Tech Line variants will draw a maximum of 99 Bhp while the top-end GTX+ will get 113 Bhp from this same engine.

The Kia Seltos will also not offer any changes to the variants and other trim levels. The engine options will also remain the same. However, Kia will launch a new range-topping variant GTX(O) MT powered by the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
