Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Apr 27 (UNI) In a joint operation, the Crime Branch and the FDA here on Tuesday busted a seven-member gang allegedly involved in black marketeering of remdesivir injection.
The accused have been identified as Sainath Anna Wahul (32), Dinesh Kanhu Navgire (28) and Ravi Rohidas Dongre, all from this district.
While, the remaining four—Narendra Muralidhar Sable (33), Sandeep Sukhdev Ragade (32), Pravin Shivnath Borde (27) and Afroz Khan Iqbal Khan—are from neighbouring Jalna district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team was constituted under the guidance of city police chief Dr. Nikhil Gupta.
Subsequently, a trap was laid near the GMCH doctors hostel and a decoy customer was sent to procure the remdesivir, stated ACP (Crime Branch) Ravindra Salokhe.
The person posing as the customer met the accused Dinesh who offered the injection at the price of Rs 20,000 each, told the ACP.
Immediately, the cops and the FDA officials swung into action and nabbed the gang possessing five remdesivir injections, he added.
Besides the antiviral drug, a four-wheeler and mobile, totally valuing up to Rs 5,64,587 have been seized from them, police apprised.
On April 17 here, other three accused, including a GMCH Class IV employee, were arrested for remdesivir black marketeering.
