Kerala reports 32,819 new Covid-19 cases

With new additions, Kerala now has 2,47,181 active coronavirus patients.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala reported 32,819 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest single-day peak till date, taking the state's coronavirus tally to to 14,60,364.
The state now has 2,47,181 active coronavirus patients.
Kozhikode reported the highest number of cases at 5015, followed by Ernakukam (4,270), Malappuram (3,251), Thrissur (3,097), Kottayam (2,970), Thiruvananthapuram (2,892), Palakkad (2,071), Kannur (1,996), Alappuzha (1,770), Kollam (1,591), Pathanamthitta (1,163), Wayanad (968), Kasaragod (906) and Idukki (859).
In the last 24 hours, 1,41,199 samples were tested with a test positivity rate of 23.24%. A total of 1,52,13,100 samples have been sent for testing so far.
Among the new cases 30,409 cases have been infected through local spread.
The contact source of infection was not traceable for 2,049 cases. There are 96 health care professionals among those infected and 265 people have arrived from outside the state.
At the same time, 18,413 patients have recovered from the disease.
Meanwhile, 32 deaths occurred in the last few days, were confirmed due to Covid-19, taking the death toll in the state to 5,171.
So far 12,07,680 people have recovered from the infection in the state even as 2,47,181 patients are still undergoing treatment for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 40 new places have been declared as hotspot. There are currently 587 Covid-19 hotspots in the state.
