LUCKNOW: Delay in hospitalisation continued to cause death and sufferings to the critically ill Covid-19 patients on Monday.
Anju Dwivedi (57) died while in home isolation in Vrindavan Yojna as help did not reach on time. "She was suffering from Covid-19 since April 23. We tried several times to get her admitted to various private hospitals in the city, but all refused citing the crisis of oxygen supported beds and intensive care units," Dwivedi's daughter Shashi told TOI.
Even after trying desperately for two days, SP Saxena, a resident of sector A, Mahanagar, could not get a bed in Covid hospital.
"My fathers is 65 years old and a CT Scan report shows that the infection is increasing in his lungs. His blood oxygen level has dropped to 80% despite oxygen support at home. Integrated Covid Command Control Centre (ICCC) and chief medical officer's (CMO) office have not responded. We have sent SOS to senior officers of the district administration, but have not got any bed so far," said a visibly angry Navin, SP Saxena's son.
"We read in newspapers daily that more hospitals have been made Covid facilities and the number of beds have been increased, then why is there so much delay in allotment of beds," he added.
The family of Chitranjan Srivastava (75), a Covid-19 patient with extremely low blood oxygen levels, too did not get any bed even after 24 hours of desperate SOS to ICCC, CMO officer and district officers. "If my brother dies, who will take the responsibility," said Khare's younger brother Roopranjan, a resident of Alambagh Shubh Gupta (50), a Hazratganj resident, was admitted to a private hospital for moderate patients three days ago after testing Covid-19 positive.
The family said he needs to be shifted to a hospital with a ventilator facility, but despite several reminders by the treating hospital and our family members, nothing has been done so far.
