When the Suzuki Hayabusa exceeded the top speed of 310 kmph in the year 1999, in the interest of public safety and also, due to fears of a European ban or regulatory crackdown, the Japanese and European motorcycle manufacturers entered into a formal agreement. The said agreement was about limiting the speed of superbikes to a maximum of 300 kmph and hence, it ended the speed battle once and for all. This agreement was named the Gentlemen's Agreement.
When Suzuki launched the Hayabusa for the very first time in the year 1999, it instantly claimed the title of the world's fastest motorcycle with a top speed of 312 kmph. In addition to this, at that time, the Busa was proudly known as the fastest bike of the 20th century, which is certainly a pride for any motorcycle.
