JAIPUR: As the number of Covid cases are spiralling, municipal corporations have decided to resume sanitisation of city with sodium hypochlorite.
On Sunday, JMC-Heritage mayor Munesh Gurjar launched the drive at Sindhi Camp and ordered deployment of fire-tenders for the work. JMC-Greater has also started such drives.
Gurjar said from now onwards, every part of the city will be sanitised especially areas where positive cases are detected. A helpline number has also been launched through which citizens can request for sanitisation or for free mortuary van services for people who succumbed because of the virus. In the last two days, more than 20 calls for sanitisation and mortuary vans have been received at the helpline number of JMC-Heritage.
In JMC-Greater, more than 80 calls were received, majority of them meant for sanitisation and only a couple of ambulances.
According to the officials, only containment zones are being sanitised and currently most of the complaints are coming from Mansarover, Malviya Nagar, Murlipura and Vidhyadhar Nagar.
Assistant fire officer Rajendra Nagar said, “Ten vehicles are dedicated for this work and others have also been put on alert. We have already sanitised 70 areas in the city, which were declared containment zones. Citizens, councillors and district administration can request for sanitisation and we send our vehicles there.”
According to JMC-Greater health official Rashmi Kankariya, there is a stock of 10,700 litres of sodium hypochlorite solution and more can be ordered as per demand.
