NITI Aayog empower group on Covid preparedness seeks support from civil society organisations

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant-led empower group on covid preparedness has sought support of over one lakh civil society organisations to complement government’s initiatives at district and panchayat levels.

The civil society organisations, on the other hand, suggested government issue standard operating procedures (SOPs) for home care services while providing short term relaxation in guidelines pertaining to CSR, 80-G exemptions and other relaxations.

“In a bid to address the challenges arising due to COVID-19 pandemic, empowered group-3 chaired by NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, reached out to more than one lakh civil society organisations (CSOs) to deliberate on coordinated strategies to navigate through the impact of recent surge in COVID cases.

Principal scientific adviser K Vijayaraghavan, Kamal Kishore, member, National Disaster Management Authority and other senior officials from ministry of external fafits, ministry of home affairs, cabinet secretariat and PMO attended the meeting on Monday.

As per the statement, Kant stressed upon CSOs to reach out to the people with awareness campaigns to dispel common myths and provide accurate information regarding COVID vaccination and emphasizing the need for people to continue to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviors (CAB) including wearing masks even after vaccination.

“CEO, NITI Aayog also stressed upon CSOs to ensure that food reaches the right beneficiaries and nutritional issues are also properly addressed,” it said.

Besides, the empowered group has asked CSOs to supplement government efforts in providing needed support to urban poor families, extending support for the distribution of PPE kits and other personal health and hygiene products such as sanitizers, soaps, masks and gloves for community workers and volunteers.

“Further, CSOs have been asked to support the state governments and district administration in filling the gaps in the routine delivery of public health services while also assisting the local administration in identifying hotspots and deputing volunteers and caregivers to deliver services, with a special focus on elderly, persons and disabilities, children, transgender persons, and other vulnerable groups.

Civil Society organizations such as AkshayaPatra, Narayan Sevasansthan, Indian Cooperative Network for Women (ICNW), Narayan SevaSansthan, Karuna Trust, Marico Innovation Foundation, Dharma Life, Swasth Foundation, Dadi dada Foundation, HelpAge India, Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement, VANI, Lupin Foundation, Public Health Foundation of India, International Centre for Red Cross, Disha Foundation etc. attended the meeting.

NITI AAYOG is much better can be summed as NiGI Aayog. These guys plan for whom? We didn't benefit a dime since they are planning for the country. Rather wasted precious resources viz time money and manpower of the nation.

What advice was given by these people to the govt between Sept 2020 to Mar 2021 has to be enquired by a committee of experts from various walks of life and the culprits shou6be sent to prison for killing people in this pandemic.
This calamity has brought up on us by people in this committee and by those who abdicated responsibility and mislead the public into believing that the pandemic is over.
