Maxis' profit grows nearly 5% in Q1, revenue slightly declines

Malaysian operator Maxis saw its revenue slightly decline by 0.5 percent year-on-year to MYR 1.96 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Normalised EBITDA was up 0.5 percent to MYR 964 million, with EBITDA margin on service revenue up to 49.2 percent. Profit after tax grew by 4.7 percent to MYR 334 million from the fourth quarter of 2020, but fell by 6.4 percent year-on-year due to higher depreciation in IT investments.
