Committee denounces 'attempt' to fill community pond

Bishnupur, April 25 2021: The Leikoipung Pukhri (State Pukhri) Protection and Development Committee, Moirang has denounced the alleged work being taken up by Moirang AC MLA and his acquaintance to fill in the community pond at Moirang Leikoipung for constructing a community hall atop it.

Speaking to media persons during a press meet at Moirang, K Mohanchandra, president of Leikoipung Pukhri (State Pukhri) Protection and Development Committee, stated that that attempting to fill in the pond in the name of development at a time when the people of Moirang are urging the Government to declare the area as a historical heritage site is unfortunate .

The pond was dug in 1952, he continued.

Stating that Leikoi Pukhri is historic, he sought the intervention of the Chief Minister into this matter for the wellbeing of Moirang populace.

Leikoipung Pukhri (State Pukhri) Protection and Development Committee, Moirang secretary M.Ingocha Singh member M Jamal; MAMPIL assistant secretary L Indubala also attended the programme among others.
