The Australian pair of Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa, part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad have left the IPL. They will be returning to Australia for 'personal reasons', according to a statement by the franchise.
Richardson and Zampa are the second and third Australians to leave the IPL following Andrew Tye's departure from Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.
Tye flew back to Australia to avoid the risk of not being able to return home, his exit coming even as India battles a severe wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, with over a million positive cases recorded in the past four days.
R Ashwin had also left the Delhi Capitals on Sunday to return home to support his family as India grapples with a vicious second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Richardson played one game for RCB in IPL 2021, with figures of 1 for 29 in three overs against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai. Zampa didn't feature in the playing XI for RCB this season despite spin-friendly conditions in Chennai. Zampa missed the first game of RCB's season because of his marriage.
At present, RCB's overseas contingent has been reduced to six players - Finn Allen, Daniel Christian, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamieson and Daniel Sams.
