COVID-19: Next three months of crucial importance, says Telangana director of public health

Hyderabad: G. Srinivas Rao, Director of Public Health, warned the public that the next three months could be very important in the fight against COVID-19 and indicated that the second wave could last until the end of June. The director appealed to the public to get out of their homes only when necessary, and to wear masks, wash their hands regularly and avoid places of mass gatherings.

Rao said the country was experiencing a second wave of COVID-19 and it is expected to last up to three months. He added that the government could lighten the curbs if things fall by the end of June.

He said the people should be prepared for a longer fight against COVID-19. After the end of the first wave, many people did not follow the guidelines that were expensive in the second wave.

According to experts and centers of infectious diseases, Rao said the second wave of covid may peak in the first and second week of May. He added that in light of the dangerous scenario, one has to follow covid-19 guidelines strict. Dr.Rao further said the vaccination has also increased. According to a report presented by the Washington Institute of Health Metrics, the disease will peak from May to the first week of June in Telangana State.
