The Oscars 2021 happened today but it was quite different this year due to the pandemic. The venue this time was the Los Angeles' Union Station. Every time, it is held at the Kodak Theatre. Due to the less number of people, winners got more time than 45 seconds to make that epic speech. Only presenters and nominees were present at the venue. No other guests or members from Hollywood attended the do. This year, the after-party which is a huge highlight was scrapped. All the winners were announced and fans were happy with it but some were unhappy as their favourites did not win. Hence, we bring to you the list of nominees who were unlucky and had to miss the award. First name would be of Carey Mulligan. While Francis Mcdormand had already won two Oscars, her performance this year was not underplayed as much as it was underwhelming compared to all the other nominees. On the other hand, Carey Mulligan displayed several shades and layers and did her character brilliantly. We feel that she got the Oscar for Nomadland because of the goodwill Nomadland generated in other categories.

Emrald Fennell

While Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland explored an uncharted territory of America quite well, Emrald Fennell’s film hit us much harder and is far more relevant in today’s time of #MeToo. The way she showed #MeToo in the film was the bigger victory of the movie.

Why do we feel that Nomadland is one of those movies that got all the Academy Award voters caught up in its artistic appeal but won’t be relevant in years to come similarly how Shakespeare in Love was forgetton quite soon after it won the best film years ago. The Oscars have many such examples like these like Chicago Vs Gangs of New York. Similarly, The Trial Of The Chicago 7 though based in American history can be connected with people all over dealing with a brutal regime and whose voice has been silent even when it is their democratic right.

Another Round was nothing more than a bunch of teachers dealing with alcoholism and leading their students a very questionable path. Better Days was an extremely important film about bullying in society. We expect Better Days to be remembered in the future while Another Round will be forgotten.
