MANGALURU: The humane approach by two police personnel in helping a family in distress in the middle of the night has won plaudits, both from the public and the police top brass.
Sideeq Ali, owner of a supermarket, was travelling in a car with his wife Shaheeda Banu, who was in labour, his mother-in-law and brother-in-law to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
Sideeq told TOI, “We left from Guruvayankere in Belthangady late on Saturday evening. As we reached Arkula around 1am, the vehicle broke down. I tried to arrange for an ambulance or an alternative vehicle so that my wife could reach the hospital on time. We were waiting on the road for nearly 30 minutes when a police vehicle came to our rescue. ASI Harish and constable Vijay Kumar immediately rushed us to the hospital in their vehicle. We welcomed our third child, a baby boy at around 6am,” he said, expressing gratitude to the police department.”
