The government on Sunday mandated all major ports to waive-off charges related to cargo carrying oxygen products for three months.

This includes vessel related charges, storage charges etc levied by major ports. Also vessels carrying consignments of medical grade oxygen, oxygen tanks, oxygen bottles, portable oxygen generators, oxygen concentrators and steel pipes for manufacturing oxygen cylinders.

Port chairman shall personally supervise logistic operations (including berthing of such vessels on top priority at ports.." said a government statement.

The government on Saturday decided to waive off basic customs duty and health cess on import of oxygen and oxygen related equipment for three months, in its measures to speed up oxygen supply as the country's hospitals faces a massive shortage of the life-saving gas for Covid19 patients.
