Dhaka, Apr 25 (UNI) Some 101 more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,053.
During the period, 2,922 more people were diagnosed with the virus, raising the total number of infections to 7,45,322, the health directorate said in a statement on Sunday.
Of the total patients, 6,57,452 recovered, with 4,301 made recovery in the last 24 hours.
The daily count came from a test of 21,922 samples in the past day.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8 last year. Since then the country has been struggling to limit the spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year and then spread to newer countries and territories.
To date, the epidemic infected 147,170,817 people and killed 3,115,268 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 124,826,932 across the world.
