    View: Vaccination is the only real weapon to stop Covid-19. India must continue and intensify the drive

    Synopsis

    For the immediate present, India needs to continue and intensify the vaccination drive. This is the only real weapon the world has to stop the virus. Vaccines work, and while there remains a lot of debate about conclusive evidence of the determinants of the virus, there should be no debate about the efficacy of vaccines.

    There will be a time for deep analysis of what could have been done differently, and how to prepare for future pandemics. But now is the time for unity and coordinated action to end the acute phase of the pandemic in India. There are several urgent requirements: oxygen for the needy, beds for the sick, and PPE (personal protective equipment) for the medical staff. For the immediate present, India needs to continue and intensify the vaccination
