Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja smashed 37 runs off the final over as his quick-fire 62 off 28 balls powered the side to 191 for 4 against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday in Mumbai.
Jadeja's final blitz now records Patel's over as the joint-most expensive in IPL history. In 2011, Kochi Tuskers bowler P Parameswaran had conceded 37 runs in an over against Chris Gayle (RCB).
Heading into the final over with CSK struggling for a finish at 154/4, Jadeja waltzed RCB pacer Harshal Patel for four consecutive sixes before adding another of the fifth ball. Jadeja brought up his fifty of just four balls to stun Virat Kohli and Co.
Interestingly, Jadeja who came in at No.5 ahead of MS Dhoni, was dropped by Dan Christian off Washington Sundar on 0. Patel who had earlier recorded figures of 3/12 in three overs, finished at 4-0-51-3 after a dismal 20th over.
