Akalis protest shortage of gunny bags

Fatehgarh Sahib, April 24

On the call of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, leaders of the party’s district unit and the Youth Akali Dal today staged protests against the state government for its “failure” to arrange gunny bags for the smooth procurement of wheat.

Led by Jagdeep Singh Cheema, district president, SAD, party workers submitted a memorandum to the SDM, Fatehgarh Sahib. They demanded a judicial probe into the gunny bags’ shortage issue. They urged the government to ensure timely payment and lifting of procured wheat.

The workers of the Youth Akali Dal staged a protest at the grain market, Sirhind, for poor arrangements and shortage of gunny bags. — OC
