Covid-19: Tamil Nadu reports highest ever fresh cases

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu on Sunday reported the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases. A total of 15,659 people tested positive in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 10,81,988.
With 82 more people succumbing to the disease, the state's Covid toll increased to 13,557.
As many as 11,065 people got discharged from hospitals and homes following treatment.
With the overall recovery rate dropping below 90%, the number of active cases in the state increased to 1,05,180.
Hotspot Chennai reported 4,206 new cases and 30 deaths. Over 31,500 are currently infected and undergoing treatment in the district.
Cases were on the rise in Coimbatore (1,038 new cases), Madurai (603), Salem (511) and Trichy (343) as well.
