India is the fastest in the world at over 14 cents COVID-19 vaccine doses

New Delhi: India has become the fastest country in the world to deliver more than 14 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, which were done in just 99 days, the Union’s Ministry of Health said on Sunday.

Eight states – Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala – account for 58.83 percent of the total doses given in the country so far.

So far, 14,09,16,417 doses of vaccines have been administered across the country through 20,19,263 sessions, the ministry said, citing a preliminary report by 7 p.m.

These include 92,90,528 health care and 1,19,50,251 frontline workers who received the first dose, and 59,95,634 health care workers and 62,90,491 frontline workers who took the second dose.

Among the older citizens, 4,96,55,753 received the first dose and 77,19,730 the second.

Among beneficiaries between the ages of 45 and 60, 4,76,83,792 received the first dose and 23,30,238 the second dose.

‘In another important development, India has now become the fastest country in the world to reach the 14 million mark COVID-19 vaccine doses. “India has achieved this feat in just 99 days,” the ministry said.

More than 25 lakh vaccine doses were administered within 24 hours.

On April 24, day 99 of the vaccination, 25,36,612 doses were administered. While 16,43,864 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the 25,732 sessions for the first dose, 8,92,748 received the second dose of the vaccine.

The nationwide vaccination process was launched on 16 January with vaccinated health workers and the immunization of frontline workers began from 2 February.

The next phase of COVID-19 Vaccination began on March 1 for those over 60 and for people 45 and older with specified conditions.

India has started a vaccination for all people over 45 years from 1 April. They later decided to expand his vaccination program by having everyone vaccinated from 18 May.
