HISAR: Police registered a case against two unknown persons who allegedly abused a doctor after the death of an 85-year-old Covid-19 patient in Hisar. Investigations have started but no arrest has been made so far.
Hisar police said Urban Estate police station registered a case on the complaint of Dr Vikram of Jindal Hospital against two unknown persons under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code and Section 51-B (refuses to comply direction) of the Disaster Management Act.
In his police complaint, he said he was on duty in the Corona ward on the night of April 17 and an 85-year-old woman Covid patient had been admitted there from April
13. He said the woman died at around 11:30pm the same night, after which her family members abused him.
Relatives of deceased Covid patients have been accusing hospitals of negligence in Hisar. In one case, former BJP president Tarachand Agarwal of Bhiwani district died in a hospital in Hisar. His relative, retired deputy civil surgeon Dr Subhash Chandra Mittal, a resident of Kaithal, accused the hospital management of negligence.
When the son of a PWD department officer died of Covid at a private hospital in Hisar, wife of the deceased also created a scene and accused the hospital management of negligence in treatment. She alleged that the hospital administration deliberately made a Covid positive report to prevent an autopsy which would expose negligence.
