The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has directed all its field officials to dispose of all imported consignments used in the treatment of corona, including life-saving drugs and oxygen equipment, on the highest priority basis. The objective of this order of the CBIC, which comes under the Ministry of Finance, is to provide relief equipment to the patients suffering from corona infection in the shortest possible time. The rapid increase in cases of corona infection has resulted in a massive shortage of life-saving drugs and other equipment.

The board tweeted that it has instructed all its field officers to dispose of these consignments with the highest priority. The CBIC has told the authorities that cases of corona infection are increasing rapidly. In such a situation, custom clearance must be given on a priority basis to imported goods and equipment for the treatment of corona. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also said in a tweet that one step to fight the corona will also be that sensitive equipment related to this epidemic reaches its destination as soon as possible.
