ATTARI: Nearly 200 Indian pilgrims who had gone to
Pakistan for
Baisakhi celebrations tested Covid positive on their return on Thursday, triggering chaos at the
Attari Integrated Check Post (ICP).
Assistant civil surgeon Dr
Amarjit Singh told TOI: “Till now around 200 Indians have tested positive for Covid-19 at ICP but the final figure is yet to come.” He said all the 816 Indian jatha members had been tested and those who were positive were advised home quarantine.
Many of the pilgrims are said to have objected to the tests and had heated arguments with the authorities. The
Sikh jatha had gone to Pakistan via the Attari land border on April 12.
