MUMBAI: Majority of laboratories in Mumbai are scaling up their capacity as demand for Covid-19 tests surges across the city. In the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the country is witnessing record number of coronavirus cases every day.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit states in India. The state reported over 67,013 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the
state health ministry on April 22.
Mumbai has seen the number of daily Covid-19 tests rise three-and-a-half times in a month due to the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Covid-19 test reports are taking three to four days to come, even as labs hire more technicians and train them in phlebotomy to ramp up swab collection and tests. Many labs in the city had to stop testing on April 10 and 11 to clear backlog.
