Mumbai Indians would be aiming to address their batting woes to achieve consistency. The MI bowlers have more often than not risen to the occasion and won matches for the team. However, they couldn’t do so against Delhi and would like the batters to put up bigger scores for them to do the job.
Punjab Kings (Probable XI): KL Rahul (c/wk), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Moises Henriques, Shahrukh Khan, Fabian Allen, M Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh

Punjab Kings' formidable batting unit hasn’t hit the straps, save for KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal and the bowling has been pedestrian. Chris Gayle has not been able to boss over proceedings while Nicholas Pooran, expected to provide the big shots in the middle, has come a cropper so far. Three straight losses would have definitely dented their morale and they need to recover quickly to keep their play-off hopes alive. Punjab might bring in Ravi Bishnoi in place of Murugan Ashwin and fit in Chris Jordan in the XI.
The two teams have played each other 28 times where MI holds an upper hand with 16 wins as compared to PBKS' 12. They last faced each other during IPL 2020 where the KL Rahul-led side beat the eventual champions after playing two super-overs.
‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle has not been able to boss over proceedings while his fellow West Indian Nicholas Pooran, expected to provide the big shots in the middle, has come a cropper so far.
"Shahrukh Khan showed composure and an understanding of how to play a slightly different innings to the power innings that we know he can play, which was very nice to see from our point of view. For our whole batting group, we're going to have to play with more skill and more understanding of these conditions, what to do in these conditions"
'I am sure the middle-order is probably not too pleased with how things are going so far but I know the guys are hungry and desperate to put in the performance in our last game here in Chennai. We have not had an ideal start, obviously like to have a few more runs on the board. But one of the strengths of this side is fighting till the end and the bowlers have managed to do that.'

MI and PBKS faced each other last season in Dubai and the match was an absolute thriller. PBKS beat Mumbai after playing two super-overs.
It is still early days in this year’s IPL but Mumbai Indians would like its players to find form and consistency and a match against an under-performing Punjab could well be the beginning. Meanwhile, Punjab have flattered to deceive after a winning start. Being shot out for 120 by Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday hinted at bigger problems for the KL Rahul-led team, which has more than one issue to resolve, especially its composition.
