New Director of Kanglei Khongyang Thijinyon (KKT), Imphal

Dr. Sorokhaibam Padmabati Devi is appointed as the new Director of Kanglei Khongyang Thijinyon (KKT), Imphal, an advanced research centre. She will hold the position for a period of 3 (three) years with effect from the date she takes over charges or until she attains the age of 60 years whichever is earlier.

Dr Padmabati did her PhD in Life Sciences from Manipur University in 2006, MSc and Graduation from Kumon University, Nanital and Manipur University respectively. She has worked as Research Associate in medicinal plants board under AYUSH (2006-2008).

Additionally, she was a Women Scientist under Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt of India during 2008-2015. She has a book chapter and a numerous research publications in top international and national journals. Presently, she is working as an Epidemiologist in CMO, Thoubal.

The main objective of the centre is to perform high end research in the field of Science & Technology and to set up a state of art research facility. The centre also envisages setting up outstanding schools of research to harness the rich biodiversity of the state.
